The initiative IVY is intended to young Europeans between 18 to 30 years old who have registered on the European Solidarity Corps homepage.

The volunteers will be financially supported by the European Commission via the Association of European Border Regions (AEBR) who is the designated referent of this initiative.

The volunteering period carried out by the selected young people will last from 2 to 6 months maximum. This trial experiment will end in December 2019.

In order to receive a volunteer:

  • The approved INTERREG Caribbean projects write a note presenting the project, the profile and the considered mission.
  • It is then asked to send this note to the managing authority of the program which then makes the connexion with the AEBR.
  • The AEBR validates the reception of the volunteer and/or the missions and/or the number of volunteers received.

A pre-selection of 6 candidates is made by this association based on the aforementioned note and the candidates profiles registered on the European homepage. This list of 6 candidates - with information regarding their language skills, nationality and experience - is sent to the host organisation for the selection.

Once this selection is done, an official confirmation letter is signed between the candidate, the AEBR and the host organisation.
